About staying at Gorilla
Conservation Camp

The Gorilla Conservation Camp guesthouse has five self-contained rooms and is a social enterprise of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) located in the Buhoma sector – just 20 minutes drive from Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a stunning panoramic view of the top of the Forest. Well-suited for researchers, gorilla trekkers, birders and team-building retreats, the eco-friendly camp has a new Gorilla Conservation Café serving our single origin, 100% Arabica Kanyonyi Coffee, a global premium brand that supports over 500 smallholder farmers around Bwindi. Travelers get to savor a cup or buy Gorilla Conservation Coffee as a souvenir to save gorillas one sip at a time. Adjacent to the Gorilla Conservation Camp is CTPH’s Gorilla Health and Community Conservation Centre where we share our STEM educational approach and lifetime experience for inspiring the young-and not so young-people everywhere.

The Centre works in conjunction with Uganda Wildlife Authority to analyze gorilla samples to help prevent the spread of disease between the local population and the gorillas, helping to conserve the once listed critically endangered mountain gorilla now upgraded to endangered by IUCN in 2018. We also host community conservation activities at the Centre. You can visit the Centre during your stay.

Founded in 2003, CTPH is an award-winning, non-profit organization led by UNEP Champions of the Earth in 2021, Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka and is dedicated to promoting biodiversity conservation by enabling people, gorillas, and other wildlife to coexist through improved health and community alternative livelihoods.

Our Gorilla Conservation Camp supports CTPH’s mission by providing sustainable and responsible tourism to the great apes experiences that benefit local communities and conservation initiatives.
